Associations and Gender in Yugoslav Space
  • Interview with Fabio Giomi — Chargé de recherche — CNRS (CETOBAC)
Through the history of associations, Fabio Giomi draws attention to the marginalized actors who, between the end of the 19th century and the Second World War, contributed to the transformation of sociabilities and forms of political commitment in Yugoslav society.
Summary
The history of associations in Yugoslavia elucidates the modernization of Balkan societies in a new way. Archive work and including gender in the problematization of the research bring to light the role of the middle classes and marginalized actors in this modernization process.
