Discovering the history of Russia
  • Interview with Wladimir Berelowitch — Directeur d'études — EHESS (CERCEC)
Anna Joukovskaïa — Chargée de recherches — CNRS/EHESS (CERCEC)
From literature to history, Wladimir Berelowitch retraces here his personnal and professional experience while studying Imperial Russia in France, from the 1960s to the present time. If the ideological constraints and access to the archives have changed, the questioning remains the same: how the elites formed in Russia during the eighteenth century? What was the role of scientific exchanges between Russia and Europe in the development of social sciences within this vast Empire? Finally, how did the historiography of Russia evolved from the eighteenth century to the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917.
